Most of my stuff in the store is wizard/magic themed. It's my thing! However, I am always working on adding a variety. There is some Owl stuff too. If you have requests for anything specific, please don't hesitate to comment.

The Secret of the Balancing Parrot-- MAGIC!

In my last post, I showed an art project. Here are the details for the Balancing Parrots . The students were completely amazed by this art project. Even the most "cool" student was impressed. Here's the secret. What you'll need: copy of the bird on cardstock paper crayons or color pencils scissors 2 pennies for each bird     What to do: Color the front of the bird. Cut out very carefully especially around the beak. Color the back. Tape the pennies on the underside of the wings. Slightly fold the bird down the center. Balance it from the beak, on your finger or on the eraser end of a pencil.  Make your own copy  You can change the colors of your bird depending on the theme or book. I tried to adjust the beak to look more like a parrot, but it messed with the balance. I am sticking with this template. My friend and teacher partner shared this wonderful project with me! Ahoy! Welcome Aboard to ESY!

Teaching ESY always inspires me. I think it might be simplicity of it. There are specific objectives for each student and in our district's case, there are four weeks to review, practice and maintain those objectives. It also is a time to break free of the intervention mandated curriculum, use our imaginations and BE A TEACHER. Preparing Before I meet the students, I receive their IEPs with the objectives their case manager chose for them. The case managers are contacted, I asked questions about health, adaptive needs and behavior support. I make a document to compile the responses. Most of the time they email, so copy and paste works well! Over the years, I have tried different ways to consolidate the academic information and the most effective is to make a Google sheet for each subject. I make one for reading, writing and math.
